1970 Topps : Comic Cover Stickers

Comic Covers Stickers were released by Topps Chewing Gum in 1970. The 44-piece sticker-card set showcases DC Comics covers published from 1969–1970. The sticker cards are standard size, each measuring 2.5 x 3.5 inches. The series features 15 full panel stickers and 29 sticker cards divided into four panels. Comic Cover Stickers were originally sold in wax packs for five cents. Each pack included a stick of bubble gum.

The cover of Superman #222 (December 1969) is featured on a full panel. The original background color was changed from yellow to orange. The cover was penciled by Curt Swan and inked by Murphy Anderson (Swanderson). The lettering is by Gaspar Saladino.

The unnumbered sticker cards are copyrighted 1969 by National Periodical Publications, Inc. Full-panel stickers contain instructions for removing the sticker on the back. Four-panel sticker backs are blank.

Superman appears on ten of the four-panel cover stickers. All four-panel covers that feature Superman were penciled by Curt Swan and inked by Murphy Anderson, with the exception of one by Neal Adams. Superboy and Supergirl also appear on four-panel stickers. All Superman related cover lettering was done by Gaspar Saladino.
