2008 Rittenhouse Archives, Ltd. : Batman Archives
The Batman Archives trading card set was released by
Rittenhouse Archives Ltd. on September 17, 2008. The series was limited to
7,500 boxes. There are 24 packs per box with 5 cards in each pack. Each box
includes one hand-drawn sketch card from one of 33 different artists. Each
case of 12 boxes includes an exclusive autograph card signed by Jerry
Robinson, co-creator of Robin and The Joker.
Superman appears on one card in this series. "Classic Covers" #59 reprints the cover of Batman #612 dated April 2003. The art was penciled by Jim Lee, inked by Scott Williams, and colored by Alex Sinclair.
"1940 Gum Cards" insert odds are about 1:6 packs. The cards on printed on
vintage cardstock reminiscent of the 1940 Batman Gum set released by
Topps. The "Dark Victory" subset consists of nine glow-in-the-dark images from
the "Batman: Dark Victory" storyline. The odds of finding a "Dark Victory"
card are approximately 1:12 packs. There odds of finding one of nine
lenticular cards are about 1:24 packs, or one per box.
Customers that purchased three cases received a one-of-a-kind hand-painted
card from artist Mark McHaley. Customers that preordered nine cases received
an exclusive hand-drawn sketch card by legendary DC artist Dick Giordano.
The base set checklist is comprised of 63 cards.
