1958 Snap Card Products Ltd. : ATV Stars Series No. 1


The first series of ATV Stars was released by Snap Card Products Ltd. of London, England, in late 1958. This 50-card set of film and television personalities was randomly dispensed from vending machines in England.


ATV (Associated TeleVision) cards are slightly larger than standard size trading cards at approximately 2.625 x 3.625 inches. An ATV Stars collector album was available by mail order for 3 shillings and 6 pence.

Card No. 4 features an image of George Reeves in an iconic pose from The Adventures of Superman television show.


The Adventures of Superman aired for six seasons between 1952 and 1958. The show began syndication in 1965 and Topps issued a trading card series that same year.

A second series of ATV Stars featuring different celebrities was released in 1960.

The ATV Stars Series No. 1 checklist consists of 50 base cards. Two cards are designated as #34 and no #33 was printed.

Kane Products Ltd. : Kane's ATV Pocket Pack


Kane Products Ltd. of Sussex released a similar set of 36 cut-out panels on boxes of Kane's ATV Pocket Pack candy. The card panels are smaller than a standard trading card measuring approximately 1.5 x 2.875 inches. The cards are unnumbered and the back of each panel is blank. collector album was available by mail order for 9 pence.

One panel features a recolored version of the same promotional photo George Reeves.
