Kirk Alyn, the first actor to appear as Superman and Clark Kent on film, is absent from the card timeline. Alyn starred in the 1948 serial Superman and the 1950 sequel Atom Man vs. Superman, both produced by Columbia Pictures. Kirk Alyn later appeared as General Sam Lane in Superman: The Movie.

Tyler Hoechlin first appeared as Superman in season two of Supergirl on October 24, 2016. Hoechlin currently stars in The CW series Superman & Lois. The show debuted on February 23, 2021, and a fourth season is scheduled to air in Fall 2024.

David Corenswet has been cast as Clark Kent and Superman for the upcoming DCU film Superman: Legacy. The film is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released in American theaters on March 25, 2016. Warner Bros. Pictures licensed several different promotional card sets for the film. Scenes from Batman v Superman were included in CZX Super Heroes & Super Villains, a premium trading card set released by Cryptozoic Entertainment.

Director Kevin Smith hosted the IMDb coverage of SDCC 2016. Smith drafted the original screenplay for Superman Lives, a Warner Bros. reboot that was cancelled during development. Tim Burton was planned to direct the the film and Nicolas Cage was cast as Kal-El. Cage voiced Superman in the 2008 animated film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. A computer generated likeness of Nicolas Cage as Superman appears in the 2023 DCEU film The Flash.
